Kirihara Akaya (2nd year) One of, if not the earliest rival to appear in the series. His great talent at tennis enables him to beat several seniors to earn his place as regular in the Rikkai tennis club. Is one of the roughest characters in the series, and has a 'bloodshot' and 'devil' mode. Both activate when he is extremely frustrated or angry. Will replace Yukimura Seiichi as captain of the Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku Chuu tennis club captian next year.

Yukimura Seiichi (3rd year) Called the 'Child of God' and is one of the three demons, or trioka of Rikkaidai. Underwent surgery during the Kantou match that Rikkaidai had with Seigaku. In the national finals lost to Echizen Ryoma by 4-6.

Sanada Genichirou (3rd year) Known as the Emperor. Temporarily took over the role as captain for the Rikkai tennis club when Yukimura had to go to the hospital for surgery. Lost to Echizen Ryoma in the Kantou finals. Holds a bitter three-way rivalry with Atobe and Tezuka. Would've lost to Atobe if Yukimura had not stopped their match. Won against Tezuka in the Nationals finals.

Yanagi Renji (3rd year) The lesser of the Three Demons. Is known as Rikkaidai's Data Master. Is childhood friends with Inui Sadaharu of Seishun Gakuen. Played Singles 3 during the Kantou finals against Inui Sadaharu, and Doubles 2 with Kirihara Akaya against Inui-Kaidoh pair during the Nationals finals.

Niou Masaharu (3rd year) The petenshi, or trickster of Rikkaidai. Creates an illusion of a player he masquerades, and is able to copy the person's tennis moves flawlessly. The illusion was thought to be perfect, until Fuji Syuusuke proved that he is unable to copy one move from the tennis player he imitates. He is the only one who dares to stand up against Sanada, as proven when Sanada asks everyone to slap him for his loss, which he readily did so. Played doubles with Yagyuu Hiroshi in the Kantou finals and defeated Seigaku's Golden Pair with a crushing 6-2. They masqueraded as each other so perfectly until even their own teammates didn't know. Played Singles 2 in the Nationals finals and lost to Fuji Syuusuke.

Yagyuu Hiroshi (3rd year) Rikkaidai's Gentleman. In the anime, he was sought out by Niou Masaharu from his golf club to play tennis. His best move is the "Laser Beam". A shot that is very fast and almost impossible to return. He played doubles with Niou Masaharu in the Kantou finals, and switched identities with him. Their doubles pairing has been unbeatable so far. Even though they delivered a crushing 6-2 defeat to the Golden Pair, Rikkaidai lost all 3 singles, thus resulting in Seigaku clinching the tournament.

Marui Bunta (3rd year) Is generally perceived as cheerful, and is Hyotei Gakuen's Akutagawa Jirou's idol. Is seen to be chewing bubblegum during a match, besides eating cake before entering one. Self-proclaimed tensai of Rikkai, and Rikkaidai's very own volley specialist. In the manga, he crushed the Momo-Kaidoh pair 6-1 with Jackal, wheras the match in the anime shows that it ended at a close 7-5. Lost in the Nationals to the Golden Pair.

Jackal Kuwahara (3rd year) Half-brazilian, is known as Rikkaidai's "iron wall of defense". He plays doubles with Marui Bunta. Was shown to shave his head in the match against Momo-Kaidoh pair, signifying that he wasn't scared of them at all. Lost to the Golden Pair in the Nationals.

Hyotei Gakuen

This was the best picture of Hyotei I could find. But you have to admit, it's cute. Just that Hiyoshi isn't here.

Atobe Keigo (3rd year) Captain of the 200+ members tennis club of Hyotei Gakuen. Originally lived in England, and studied in King's primary school there. Resident diva of Hyotei. Arrogant, but his grades and skills gives him full reason to be so. Has a three-way bitter rivalry with Tezuka and Sanada. Beat Tezuka in the Kantou match, and would've won the match with Sanada had Yukimura Seiichi not interfered.

Oshitari Yuushi (3rd year) From Osaka. Has a cousin, Kenya who studies in Shitenhouji. Speaks with a distinct Kansai accent that is occasionally a joke in radio shows. Called 'Oshitari of the one thousand skills', but has yet to reveal any of them, considering how rarely he appears in the manga and anime, even though Hyotei has much screen time. Plays doubles with Mukahi Gakuto. He's most noticable move is Fuji Syuusuke's Higuma Otoshi.

Shishido Ryou (3rd year) Was dropped from the regulars earlier in the show after his lost to Tachibana Kippei, a nationals level player. Hyotei tennis club's rules are that regulars are dropped immediately after a lost. With help from the rest of the Hyotei tennis club regulars, regains his place and now plays doubles with Ohtori Choutarou. They form Hyotei's strongest doubles pair and are known as Silver Pair.

Mukahi Gakuto (3rd year) Came up from Hyotei Gakuen's elementary school with Shishido Ryou and Akutagawa Jirou. Plays only doubles, for his acrobatic tennis drains his stamina. His most famous move, the 'Moonsault' is just a very high somersault in the air that doesn't really help in anything except smashing the ball.

Akutagawa Jirou (3rd year) Is often seen asleep, and when awake, hyper. Plays tennis more for fun than anything else. Idolizes Marui Bunta of Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku Chuu, and models his tennis style after him.

Ohtori Choutarou (2nd year) The tallest of the Hyotei regulars next to Kabaji Munehiro. He wears a cross around his neck, and is very polite, calling everyone with by '-san'. He and Shishido Ryou form Hyotei's strongest doubles pair, the Silver Pair.

Hiyoshi Wakashi (2nd year) A player that combines martial arts with tennis. Played and was on par with Kirihara Akaya from Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku Chuu. Lost in singles to Echizen Ryoma and in doubles with Mukahi Gakuto to Inui-Kaidoh pair.

Kabaji Munehiro (2nd year) Tallest of the Hyotei Gakuen regulars. Went to King's primary school in England like Atobe. He is able to copy other people's moves perfectly, as Atobe Keigo once stated, because he is pure, like a baby. However, this tennis style has also been used against him.

Prince of Tennis

Seishun Gakuen tennis club members

Echizen Ryoma 越前 龙马 (1st year) The main character in Prince of Tennis. He's cocky, but he has the skills to back up his cockiness. Son of the famed 'Samurai Nanjiroh'. He plays as the eldest brother in tenipuri.

Momoshiro Takeshi 桃城 武 (2nd year) A power player who has keen observation skills. Loves to eat. Prefers people to call him Momo, and for underclassmen, Momo-chan-senpai. Plays as the sister in tenipuri.

Kaidoh Kaoru 海嘡 薰 (2nd year) He looks scary, but he's really cute since he loves all sorts of animals. He's been shown to treat Ryoma's pet cat, Karupin quite kindly. His specialty is 'snake' shots. Plays as the baby in tenipuri.

Fuji Syuusuke 不二 周助 (3rd year) He has a strange love for wasabi and anything spicy. Perhaps, his more normal favourite food is the Fuji apple. His hobby, besides tennis is photography. He is the only one in the Seigaku tennis team that can withstand Inui's drinks. He loves his younger brother a lot, and is called the 'tensai' or genius for the moves that he created on his own. Plays as the grandmother in tenipuri.

Tezuka Kunimitsu 手 国光(3rd year) Captain of the Seigaku tennis team. As Ryuuzaki-sensei, their team's tennis coach said, ‘the person closest to Echizen Nanjiroh'. Is a national level player, and is only shown to smile once in the entire series of the manga. Was thought to also be able to withstand Inui's drinks, but in a flash for the readers/viewers, his hand was shown to be shaking after drinking Inui's drink. Is the strict grandfather in the tenipuri.

Oishi Syuuichiroh 大石 秀一郎 (3rd year) Vice-captain and 'mother hen' of Seigaku tennis team. Rears fish at home. One-half of Seigaku's Golden Pair along with Kikumaru Eiji. He plays as the hot-tempered mother in Tenipuri.

Kikumaru Eiji 菊丸 英二 (3rd year) The most cheerful and outgoing of the Seigaku team members. Commonly has eating competitions with Momo. Often ends his sentences with 'nya' and calls Echizen Ryoma Ochibi(-chan). One-half of Seigaku's Golden Pair along with Oishi Syuuichiroh. Plays as the cat in Tenipuri.

Inui Sadaharu 干 贞治 (3rd year) Plays 'data tennis', in which he records the data of his opponents and predicts what moves they will use in the match. Creates drinks that are inedible, even for him. Commonly uses the drinks to threaten the Seigaku tennis team members to improve their tennis skills along with their speed and stamina. Is the somewhat cowardly father in Tenipuri.

Kawamura Takashi 河村 隆 (3rd year) Like Momo, plays power tennis. He is sweet and mild-mannered when not holding a tennis racket, but once one is in his hand, he goes into 'burning' mode. When in 'burning' mode, Kawamura speaks in accented English.
